Pete

Letanka

Pete studied Jazz and Contemporary music at Leeds College of Music, where he won a scholarship to spend a year studying with Mark Polishook at the University of Maine in the USA.  He graduated with a 1st class BA (Hons) and the Leeds University Armes award for the highest mark in his graduating year. On graduation, he formed the Pete Letanka Trio and was signed to the award-winning label Zephyr Records, who released his debut album, “Afrostocracy” to critical acclaim.

Performer

Pete’s work as a professional jazz pianist involves recording albums for the award-winning Zephyr Records and performing at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz club, the Barbican Centre and the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Pete works extensively in the world of music education leading creative music projects across the UK and in South Africa, India, Lebanon, Spain and Portugal.

As a composer and arranger, Pete’s work ranges from small jazz ensembles to full symphony orchestra.

When presenting, Pete has the ability to make large-scale concerts feel intimate.  Whether broadcasting on BBC Radio 3 or presenting to 5000 people in the Royal Albert Hall his engaging style draws in audiences and connects them with the performers.
